Direct injection plays an integral part in the function of the system that Mazda calls the Smart Idle Stop System, or SISS. When a vehicle slows down and stops, sensors position the engine's pistons in specific locations within each of the cylinders. This allows the system to determine which of the cylinders is fully pressurized and ready to fire.
The start-stop system is also known as stop-start system. Volkswagen introduced its first production stop-start system in 1983 with the Polo Formel E. In start-stop system, when the car comes to a stop, the engine stops the spark plug and fuel. When the driver lifts his foot off the brake, or presses the clutch, the engine automatically fires up.
Reason 1: Well, it is the most obvious one- you are wasting fuel. When you let the engine idle, fuel is being used by the vehicle. That an engine consumes more fuel to stop and then start again
Ok you may be thinking now, if we set the idle mph to the same mph as the 2-1 shift, we won't get the 8 degrees of timing. That is where the idle adaptive delay comes in. Increase the adaptive over/under delay to hold the idle spark out until the shift is complete. The bigger your idle spark/coast spark disparity, the larger the number will be.
N mode + foot brake (shortens the life of brake lights) D mode + foot brake (transmission wear and shortens the life of brake lights) P mode is same as N mode with transmission locked with a mechanical 'pin'. Should not be used without locking the wheels with brake because this 'pin' can wear and break. Trying to hold the car at stop with P
Idling Vs. Running The Engine: Idling is a common practice that most people do when they are just stuck up in traffic. If the Engine is in the running definitely, all your systems will stay operational, including the Air conditioner and Sound System, but this comfort will be at the cost of a reduction in fuel economy and wastage of Fuel.
justintime · #20 · Oct 8, 2016. I've learned to use light pressure to avoid idle stop engaging. If you don't press hard on the brake, Idle stop won't kick in. When I push hard on the brake, idle stop and brake hold engage. A few seconds before the light turns green, I very lightly feather the gas pedal. It's enough to start the engine, but
